This study examines the effects of supplemental insurance on health care utilization and expenditures among breast or cervix cancer patients, who were hospitalized in a general hospital in Korea 2003. We find no evidence that those who purchase the supplemental insurance in addition to the social health insurance use more health care services and pay
more than those who do not.
